Here are photos showing the majority of my glass. On the mantel are various shades in boudoir lamps, as well as some Lundberg Studios, Steven Correia, Pairpoint, and Orient & Flume vases. The hanging fixture has an assortment of gold shades, and the shelf has Lundberg and Correia vases. Contemporary glass was my "gateway drug" to Bohemian glass. I was intoxicated by all things iridescent.

Thanks! I have a cat and two dogs, and have to keep things out of reach or away from wagging tails.

Great glass and those are really nice solid looking cabinets. I think you need a couple more cabinets. LOL :)

The cabinet in the first photo has shelves that are too thin. I recently bought a dozen strips of zinc-plated steel (1/8" x 3/4" x 38") and put one under the front and back edges of each shelf. This reduces the amount of bowing of the shelves, and more importantly, they put the shelf supports under a larger piece of metal, instead of supporting a very tiny corner made of glass. The other cabinet has shelves that are about 1/4" thick, very sturdy.

Whew! Glad to hear that. it was your first case that was giving me heart flutters looking at those shelves. :)

all of my good stuff is in my office. my one classic case like yours I weighed everything on before putting it on a shelf to make sure I wasn't getting near the 25 pound limit. LOL.

      Absolutely stunning Dave!

Thanks everyone. Cabinet 1 has a door that slides all the way to the left. I have to move a chair to allow it to open. Cabinet 2 has a door that moves halfway in either direction, so I usually slide it to the left and reach over everything if I just have to get one piece out, or move a chair and slide it to the right. But that cabinet also has a locking door, so I keep my more expensive pieces in that one.

Thank you folks. Leah, I still have one of the two cats, and both of the dogs. One of Gretchen's friends offered to paint them for us for a reasonable price, so we had her do those. She was pretty new at it and we wanted to help her out. Not bad, really, but now she has come a long way and her work is very professional.

Jerrod, it's not easy sitting in my recliner and staring at it all, but someone has to do it :)

My wife's grandfather was a pretty well-known folk artist. He made that. When we got it the movement was broken, so I replaced it with a quartz movement and it keeps perfect time, chimes, and the pendulum swings. I saved the original movement in case I ever want to put it back to original. I think it only needs a new pendulum, but it's a key-wind movement, and I prefer not having to wind it.

Love the iridescent glassware. The frame around your mirror above the mantle almost makes it look like a giant piece of gold Aurene glass. Really accentuates the glass pieces below it.

I also have a cabinet that size filled with amethyst glass. I have a question for you, though. How did you photograph your cabinets without getting a glare from the front of the glass? I have tried back lighting, side lighting and even natural sunlight, but I always get a glare. I'm just wondering if it's because the purple and amethyst glass is so dark that it just doesn't photograph well. Any pointers? Thanks.

      !!!!!STUNNING!!!!!!!!!!!

To answer your question about the photos, I took them all at a slight angle, both so the light didn't reflect straight back off the glass and mirrored back, and so the photographer wasn't in the shot. I usually use a large tripod-type light to illuminate rather than flash, which often causes too much glare and is not controllable.

      Fabulous.
What was your first item and what is your favourite item Dave?
    19. dlfd911 dlfd911, 11 years ago
I would have to say this one, Anne. http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/85997-my-first-piece-of-loetz-who-would-have

The first piece of Loetz anyway, and my interest in glass just took off after that one. As far as my favorite, it would be a toss-up between the yellow one in my profile pic, which is an unknown decor but really gorgeous, and the pink Cytisus. Here's a link to the posts about them:

Dave they are all truly beautiful. You and the others in here just amaze me with your incredible collections. I love them all but think you have chosen well with your profile piece. And the first one you got, what a stunner...an amazing benchmark for your collection...

...I can only but dream...I think you may have noticed but I've just started on Tango, prior to that I have little bits of cranberry, nothing to write home about.

I'm about to buy another cabinet to keep the glass in and we have 3 cats and I've previously discussed various incidents.

I'm looking for books on Tango or rather at least books that have some Tango in them...I'm asking every Tango collector I come across to mail me their ideas on books if you wouldn't mind annelanders@gmail.com .....Gary Czechman has been terrific and sent me a bunch of websites and articles...a few David's have also sent me some interesting things and Alfredo hooked me up with the Southern Hemisphere group of 5 but a lot of ppl will collect other types of Czech glass and not necessarily Tango...
