I believe this is the first Roy Rogers doll made by Ideal Toy Company in 1949. Can anyone confirm that this is the correct identification?
It is about 25" tall. Has a vinyl face and vinyl vest and vinyl holster and belt. The rest is fabric. Woolly pants/chaps. Hat appears to be felt.
Anybody confirm the maker and date?

    Thanks

1949 Roy Rogers .He does not look like one described in Ideal's book . I am trying to find a photo of Ideal Roy . He is described as 25 " stuffed body but says painted hair ,Vinyl hands not cloth like yours . He has the correct stuffed formed body meaning the legs being made from pants . His Hat looks like Ideal . I will search more tomorrow . So He is half correct to Ideal's description but 50% not . Odd they have no photo in Ideal book just describing him . Your doll is wonderful and oh does he have Ideal marked on him back of neck or a sewn tag ?

He is also wearing correct ideal pin My Pal Roy . Just 2 difference's and that is hair is not painted but a wig . Is it glued to his head or is hair inserted into vinyl and he has cloth hands or they appear that way to me are they ? I am inclined to say he is 1949 but with a variation or book made an error in describing .

Mankin, thanks. I won't be home for a couple days so I will look again for a mark, I didn't see one originally. The hair is more like a really fussy cloth I,ll have to see how it is attached. Yes the hands are cloth.
Appreciate your info. What book are you referencing?
      Thanks

This is book I am looking at . I have others I just need to locate himm in one . My guess is that at time of publishing there was no photo they could find from a collector to put in book .

You never replied to me asking you to look at neck and back for markings. They could be under hair a little so look close . I have the Ideal Doll book .
