The Henry Cotton Signature Golf Ball
One the most underappreciated Signature Golf Balls, in my opinion, is the Dunlop 65. In 1934, Henry Cotton wins the British Open, at Royal St. George's, and shoots a 65 in his second round, a feat that was commemorated by the "Dunlop 65" golf ball. Collectors enjoy the wrapped golf balls from Great Britain more so than unwrapped “65s”. The Dunlop 65 is still produced today and sold mainly in non-U.S. markets. An eighty-year run is pretty good I’d say. Collectors on EBay seem to be paying more for the wrapped Dunlop Warwick at this time. With is misguided because the Warwick was made as a cheaper alternative to the “65.” I have a few “65s,” both wrapped and unwrapped, in my collection. One my favorite 65s is not the oldest, but it does have St. Andrews imprinted on it.
