This is a 18 size 11 jewel Illinois Columbia pocket watch in a substantial and solid 4 ounce coin silver Dueber hunter case. Key wind and key set. Estimated production year 1880.

In case you're interested in the chain, it is an English, sterling silver, Single Albert style pocket watch chain and fob. Both pieces are hallmarked for 1901. Other hallmarks include the lion passant (walking lion) the symbol for sterling silver (925) which is stamped on all the links and the anchor for Birmingham England which is the town mark corresponding to the mark of the Assay Office that has verified the piece. Makers mark on the fob, W.W.C. for William Walter Cashmore, and on the chain W.J.S. which is for William John Salt. This Albert chain is unusual for the reason that the links are different than the more common graduated links found on Albert style chains. The chain is 14 inches long (not including the drop / fob chain).

Love the heavy old cases. I was at a show last year and just missed getting a 10 ounce case! The guy right in front of me picked it up and bought it. It was massive!
