Artist Biography
Mary JARRETT
1913 - 1983
Mary Adolyn Jarrett, a printmaker and painter, was born in Seattle, Washington on June 20, 1913. She graduated from the University of Washington and continued her art studies at Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles, Académie de la Grand Chaumière in Paris, and the Slade School in London. A spinster, she died in Los Angeles on November 27, 1983. Her work includes portraits, landscapes, and oriental studies. Exhibited: Scandinavian-American Art Society, 1930s; Washington State Fair, 1933; Little Gallery (Seattle), 1936; Seattle Museum, 1938 (solo); San Francisco Art Ass'n, 1938; Northwest Printmakers, 1939, 1940; Golden Gate International Exposition, 1940; Stendahl Gallery (Los Angeles), 1940; California Art Club, 1943-54; Laguna Beach Art Ass'n, 1943; Hartwell Gallery (Los Angeles), 1948; Hollywood Art Ass'n, 1954; Descanso Gardens (La Canada), 1957.
