This example of Peloton glass is probably by Harrach, but as it is unmarked, one can't say conclusively. It stands about 6" tall and is about 3.5" in diameter. It is composed of several layers of cased glass consisting of an inner layer of translucent pale yellow, followed by a layer of translucent cream color, followed by a clear layer with a craquelle texture. The applied foot is of the same clear craquelle glass. On the surface are colorful pastel threads of pink, blue, yellow, and white.

This was a flea market find in Virginia Beach about ten years ago. When I purchased it for the princely sum of $10, it was covered with what looked like blackened axle grease. I could tell by the shape that it dated to the Jugendstil era. After several careful cleanings with warm water, mild dish soap, and a soft toothbrush, I was pleasantly surprised to see this object emerge. Fortunae felix!

That's one of the best Pelotin glass pieces I've seen.

Great piece of Peloton . I have found treasures buried beneath ages of grime and even paint . there use to be a habbit here of people painting vases white for weddings no matter what they looked like or how beatiful .

Thanks to all for the kind thoughts... Oz, that's the first I've heard of that custom... sounds like hidden treasure if you have enough turpentine :-)

I think it is important to point out that it was "a" Wilhelm Kralik, just not "the" Wilhelm Kralik.

Gorgeous example of Peloton glass, & what a great story to go with it! I too often find some very dirty pieces of glass at flea markets or op shops (thrift stores) & enjoy the cleaning process, it's like a part of making the piece truly your own when you can bring it back to it's former glory. With regard to Marty's comment, I have even found a piece of Victorian glass which someone had "painted" a design on using Liquid Paper!
