If anyone knows this one, which I am sure at this point someone will, please help out. I feel very very helpless...but the good news is, I think this is the second to last post! Thanks!
The following info. comes from another site (I think this is the same one):
GERMAN LEATHER AVIATOR HELMET WITH ATTACHED CHIN STRAP AND A THROAT MICROPHONE; FLEECE INTERIOR. SEWIN IN LABEL READS "FL. KIPFHAUBE GR; BAUMUSTER LKPW101; GERAT-NR 124-436A; WERK-NR. -/; ANF.2 LN 26618; SIEMENS; LIEFARER: LUFTFAHRT; GERATEWARK HAKENFALDE".
Hock45, you are really straining my brain & memory! Think it is a German aviator's helmet. I hope you understand that your friend has a great collection that can bring them a lot of money. Wish I were younger so I would be bidding on these items. Let him sell it to a good collector, pocket the money & smile over their good fortune. Both sides would be winners.
Hey blunderbuss...yes, she is very happy to learn that these items have value. It is my job to find a buyer in fact. I will be letting these go one by one. If anyone has a suggestion, I would like the to go to a good collector as well.
I know we cannot do business on CW, and I am not advocating that. However, I do not want: 1) My friend to lose out because of lack of knowledge, and 2) Some awful person to rip her off. That is why I come here first, I trust many opinions here.
Thanks again. Good night!!!
My advice is to have numerous bidders so there is competition that will get a fair price.
I agree with blunder. In my opinion a properly identified, well described and photographed item on an internet auction site will get her more money. The more local (off the net) you get, the less people with a special interest see these items, and there is less competition. Militaria and gun shows are great only if you already know how much to ask. Taking it to a dealer means he needs to devalue the item enough to make reselling it worth his effort, and selling it to a collector means asking him how much of his own hard earned money he is willing to part with.
great thank you blunderbuss2 and chrisnp for the advice. Take care!
thank you manikin, officialfuel, mikkochristmas11, and bellin68 for the loves!
