I am interested in all things hat - this includes antique photos featuring hats. This is one showing a studio photograph of a couple with very interesting hats. He has a classic bowler (UK) or derby (US) while she is wearing a top hat with feathers on the top and a wonderful (riding?) jacket with swirls of braid. His suit is interesting too with the contrasting piping. Unfortunately there is a fox mark on each of the faces which makes these worthless from a commercial standpoint, but I still love the photograph. What a dapper couple! The photographers backstamp (Lowthian Brothers in Grmsby UK) is glorious with swans and reeds and decorative graphics around the edge. I notice that photographers from these times considered themselves artists.....funny how that has changed. Now everyone with a Sony Cybershot is a photographer but very few photographers are considered artists.
Nice cabinet card-- I am a collector of antique images as well!
Check out my postings when you have a chance. You may find some of interest.

You certainly do have some interesting images scottvez. I have quite a large collection of cab cards, CDVs and tin types, with a few degeurotypes as well - I will try to post some soon. I am reluctant to post my best images for the reason that I see on your site - people steal your images! Putting "not to be copied" only stops the honest people!
Also - see our website as I have a wonderfully preserved civil war era book of CDVs with some of them shown there.
I'd love to see any of your other images that you care to post.

Very nice photo! I especially love the Aesthetic Movement design on the reverse of the cabinet car! : )
