Now tonight will certainly wrap up my 3 day long training on WWII memorabilia. After going through everything offered to me, I really just feel fortunate that I was given this chance. What a learning experience for me!

Here are 16 patches never worn (I am guessing). No markings, not sure who they belonged to or what they are.

    Unsolved Mystery

The stripes are Sergeant Stripes-- shown upside down.

The patch is for the 11th Armored Division.

pardon my lack of knowledge here scottvez, but does the color of the stripes have any significance? i see many patches some with brown stripes on a tan patch, some with gold stripes on a black patch. The ones above are olive stripes on a navy patch....i think.

It may in some instances, but for the most part it would just be indicative of the era (and corresponding uniform), type of uniform (dress, field, etc...) and the branch of service (Army, Marine, Air Force).

My knowledge is particular to US items-- I am sure that there are some other Nations with differing standards.
