    Gabriel,
Hello, I have had this Violin for eleven years now. My father found this in my grandfathers attic. We found two Violins but the other complete one disappeared. My father gave it to me for safe keeping and i hope it is real. I do not know anything about it and i had a hard time looking up information. Help me please! Thank you

    The label reads:

    Stradivarius
    Anno Dom
Made for and sold only By
    E.T Root & Sons Chicago U.S.A

    Unsolved Mystery

The Violin was made in Germany around 1906 and imported to the US by ET Root & Sons. The label is from the outlet not the maker. ET Root was a dealer in Musical Instruments since mid 1800s'. They had a huge catalogue of instruments available. Dave

Now lets talk about the bows. Take a good look at the tip were your hand hold it. Look for any impressed names in the wood?? If so let me know what they say. Sometimes the bow is worth 10x the price of Violin! Dave

Thank you for your response. I checked the bows and I see no makings what so ever. But what you think the value is for the violin? Is it a real stradivaruis? Thank you for all your help

No, its not a real Stradivaruis but a copy made in Germany around 1906 period. The label inside was not from the maker of the violin but the retailer ET Roots and Sons. Here is a old ad for the Violin:
      http://books.google.com/books?id=25oEAAAAYAAJ&pg=PA99&lpg=PA99&dq=et+roots+violin&source=bl&ots=Wk3SC0Sl4a&sig=6zWqWXTFhcYO3LyqbYC0tD5kI6s&hl=en&ei=v2AyTbaWM4GB8gbp-vX4CA&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=5&ved=0CDkQ6AEwBA#v=onepage&q&f=false
Value, I found one with case for $500.00, still not bad for what it is.
      Dave
