Bought this online auction, It was good price, 14K Gold, and it is, I tested it. Stone? Looks like Jade, but there is enough Gold I believe to easily cover my cost. I do not know how much a jeweler charges to test stone? I like the stone as it is round ball! Weighs 12 grams, Looks artist made . I do not know if there is a name for this style? Looking for any advice! thanks Don
Looks like brutalist jewelry. Brutalism is an art style as I m sure you know. You find it in architecture, painting, furniture, jewelry...It was popular during the fifties till the seventies.
I love that style almost as much as machine age.
I'm sure there is another name for this style too.
The stone could be jade as you already mentioned but it could also be aventurine. Chrysophrase is also possible.
Nice find!
Beautiful ! The stone almost looks like a Jade marble was used . The artist that made this piece did a wonderful job. I would wear it :-))))
Thanks all of you! Newtimes I have never heard of Brutalism! I looked it up! Yes it is! I learned a lot today, also looked up the stones! I have a lot of sterling jewelry and now I think some is Brutalism! Thanks again to Newtimes! And all!
Thank you!!
I love the setting which of course was handmade and unique in its own right. I saw a few pieces like this in Hong Kong in the 1970's when I lived there. The style was very popular and my mother collected Jade. Usually they set Antique Jade into Modernistic or Natural looking mountings to show off the quality of the Jade like the one I have listed on Ruby Lane http://www.rubylane.com/item/...293/Finest-Antique-Carved-Apple-Green . But yours has a far nicer mounting than mine! I love jade and its neat to see one in a setting so natural and unique! Thanks!
Thank you! For some reason I can not see that link? I just bought a Jade bracelet and also a necklace! the necklace is 290 grams of beads! 36 in. long! will post in a week or so! I will look for moonstones in my bag of jewelry! Try to post soon! Don
