If anyone knows the manufacturer, approximate year of manufacturing or of any lookalikes, I'd LOVE to hear about it! Please send me your story, links and/or pictures.
I've always liked dogs. Stormy is the only Cocker Spaniel I've owned that I really know nothing about. She was given to me by a relative who disliked not only dogs but also the lamp.
Stormy is made of white non-magnetic metal - probably spelter. This English Cocker Spaniel has a sad expression and soulful painted-on eyes. She is about 7.5 inches in height and with the acorn bubble glass shade, she is about 14.5 inches high. It is likely that this lamp was intended to sit on top of a radio or tv. I believe Stormy has spent her post-factory life in Ontario but there are no maker's marks or patent numbers inside or out and there is no one to ask about Stormy's mysterious past. I believe that she has been in Ontario for over 50 years.
It has been suggested that the lamp is either a Hubley or a Jennings Bros. but these metalware manufacturers don't have the same look in terms of finish, expression, refinement of canine features etc. The only clue appears on the fixture into which the light bulb is placed which says, "Florentine Lamps" which may refer to the Florentine Lighting Company of Toronto. (?)
THANK YOU!
