Victor Durand died in a fatal crash in his new Duesenberg in 1931. His partner Evan Kimball took over the firm and using Durand shapes produced a line of Cluthra ware which was popular at the time. It was made for only about a year and then Durand / Kimball closed.
Signed : K Dec.7 ( some thought the Dec.7 was a production date but we now know it means Decoration 7 ).

Note : Durand's fatal crash was caused because he went to the dentist and was given "gas". He was advised not to drive his car home himself but I guess he couldn't resist driving his new Duesenberg !

I have a piece that is marked but a different type of decor than this. do you know what this is called?

it's a finer grain than cluthra generally is.

Greatsnowyowl : Your white piece is different. My vase looks like all the Kimball pieces shown in the DURAND book. How is your's marked ?

it is one of the last pics in the link. It's marked just like yours is but the dec number is 0 and it has different numbers across the top

I have a durand book somewhere but I haven't seen it in a couple years. it's probably deep under a car seat.

The shape # on your vase is 20181.......that is a very late shape number. My book only goes up to 20177. Soooooo it has to be a new design from the Kimball period.

ach! 5 shapes off being in the book! LOL. I haven't seen another like this.
