Happy Valentines to all my CW friends
First Post Card is an embossed card dating to 1907 or later, sent from one cousin to another, both were relatives.
It was produced by the Crescent Embossing Co. (1896-)
Plainfield, NJ
This paper goods firm was founded in 1896 by Fred C. Lounsbury, a novelty salesman. Beginning in 1907 they began to publish lithographic artist signed postcards with embossing, usually issued in untypical small sets of four. C. Bunnell was one of their best known artists who illustrated many of their patriotic cards for which the company was best known, The images on many of these cards were copyrighted under Lounsbury’s name and not the artist. They also published many advertising cards for other companies.
Second card dates prior to 1910, it has a delicate paper lace border, it's condition is not great, but the sentiment is still the same.
It appears to be hand made from a cutout image.
Thanks for the love & the kind words Bellin, have a good day my friend.
Happy V Day to you as well walksoftly ! Very nice card !!!
Thanks for the love Hedge, glad to have another friend show their appreciation for these old cards.
These are quite delightful, Walksoftly!!! I am so glad that you have these to cherish. RE the one with the 'cut out' lady -- is that a 'scrap' (as used for in Victorian scrap books), or an image cut out from a publication of some sort? Love these! Happy Valentines Day to you and your family!!! : )
Beautiful Bro ! I love old valentine cards . Reminds me of school when we put them in our classmates bags taped to back of their chairs :-) I could not wait to get home and look at them and who sent me what :-) Hoping the cute boy in class gave me a good one LOL
Thanks for showing these some love miKKo, I would say the image was not cut from a publication as it appears to be cut from heavy stock. So it could be a "scrap" as you call it.
The young girl that received this card passed away 23 02 1910 at the age of twelve.
Have a Happy Valentines Day miKKo.
Thanks for the love & the comment Sis.
