I have had this a long time, never paid any attention to it, just looked at it today, says Lombard Eng. on bottom. I got at garage sale or thrift store maybe in the early 70's. Looks to be pretty modern to me. It works for umbrellas, canes, and wood mallet I bought at a small winery after an older woman died and kids were selling things. If anyone knows anything about umbrella holders let me know. Maybe it is from Pier 1 or it is not special? I just saw this
A vintage c1940's Lombard Brass umbrella / cane stand from England. The stand has a pub scene with Gentlemen talking while having a pint embossed on the center section and then has a flaired top & bottom rim. The top rim is slightly out of shape but could be bent back to the original shape. The stand also needs a good scrubbing and polishing ( I have a broken wrist tfore having to sell certian pieces as they are!). The stand measures 17.75" tall x 6" body diameter with the rims measuring 8.5" in diameter. The bottom of the stand has small dents and pokes from long years of umbrellas and canes being dropped into the stand. Lombard England is stamped on the bottom of the stand. At one time I am sure every home in England had a Lombard brass umbrella / cane
They seem to sell on ebay and places for $60.-$90. That is good, Too much for me, I bought in the 70's and a lot cheaper as I was a lot poorer then!
Handy item for those objects you depend on, if not now, in the future.
Thanks for looking, You never know! you may get hit by a bus! haha and need a cane for awhile! I like it more and moved it so it can be seen by people after entering from the garage entry to the house. Good for protection from the rain and intruders!
thanks! Have a good day!
