This is a reproduction of a middle ages jug, made in Czech, about 3 years ago. Much of what was called forest glass of this period was made in the roman tradition which had reintroduced itself from the middle east. The ability to make clear glass was lost in most of Europe, partly because the distribution of materials necessary to make it wasn't there. A lot of the glass made in Europe at this time was green due to quality of the sand and other materials such as wood ash used in it's making.
I don't often buy new glass, but this was so nice and so skillfully made I had to have it. As I am geek, I left the label on it. These people are still making this kind of glass if you wanted some.
