Hi All - Wondering if any of you history buffs recognize this type of gun - only visible marking is a small D3 CI. It's about 5' long. Appreciate any thoughts. Mimi

You need to add the barrel in photo also . It is a bolt action rifle is all I know . But there are people on here that will know .

Vetterli. Used by Swiss from 1869-90. Had one as a kid & couldn't remember the name but remembered it was Suisse.

An interesting piece of trench art! Of course it was done long after the weapons era of use.

I have seen the same thing done with a Civil War musket in the mid 20th century.
