This really nice 1850's pontil mineral water bottle was dug in downtown Savannah. It was dug out of a shallow trash pit that was found behind a house that was built in the 1840's. It's hard to find and dig large pontil bottles like this from that time period. The reason is that this type of bottle was used until it got broken. They were used over and over again to hold rain water and other fine things to drink.
