Here you see a beautyfull egg shaped little box (5x3,5 cm) with can be opened. It is nice decorated with branches with flowers and in two colours. The egg itself is yellow and the bands and two rings are of rose (gold?) colour. Two very tiny holes are in the two parts in the largest site.
There are no marks but it was very easily to clean with a gold juwelry polish cloth. I'm pretty sure it's a thimble holder.

Hi...I have seen objects like this before.I think that women of that time period would use it as a locket?
Perhaps to put a small picture of love one in it.

Nice item; from were a come ( cataluña - spain -europe ) i've seen similar things to that; and I'm with Ray it seems a locket to put something like hair of the lover one or a picture; but i don't see a frame. Pictures were expensive an public ( if somebody saw the picture the woman could have a problem ) an usual gift betwen lovers was some hair.
I think that is a thimble egg. Used to keep your favorite sewing thimble.

Thanks for letting me know. I'v found that probably it is indeed a thimble egg. The thimble of my grandmother (a silver one) is fitting good. Now try to find out which material it is, I hope of gold of course but there are no hallmarks!
Hi.You know,I had a thought about your item.Why not go to your local museum
in your home town,and bring this item with you.And show them the egg locket.
Moybe they well have some good answers for you.I beleive it is from the 19th century.

It look slike it would have been on a chain, but why would it have 2 hoops and why would you open on the side. Could it be a Victorian Ladies Snuff box, that would explain the 2 hoops not the typical one you find on other lockets. And if its handing on her neck it would be easy to take a pinch because it would have the deepest part of egg shell on the bottom looking down at it. Just a Thought? Dave

And yes it looks a lot like the picture on the link above. But the only thin is the chain is missing on the hopes. Áfter all your suggestions I hold it for a egg thimbel box. And if your link Google pictures with this key words you also see some exampels but there is none of one which is so equal as above! thanks again.
The piece on worthpoint is an incorrect description, I have had many of these over the years. Missing in Agram.m's egg is the felt or velour interior that held the thimble.

Just take a look on your pendant and yes you are perfectly right. The making looks like this pendant. Till now I did'nt tested what kind of material it is. But as soon as I did I list this here on this site. But I'll think is is of the Victorian period but my idea is that your pendant is some later as you suggested Art Deco.

If it was to hold something on a chain then there would be one loop on each side or else it might open when you wore it. It probably is a plated item rather than solid. I agree that it is missing the velvet lining and the matching thimble
