This mint artillery stein was owned by Fahrer (driver) Dreher. As a driver of the regiment, Fahrer Dreher served from 1903-1905 in the 2nd Wurttenburg Field Artillery Regiment Num. 29, Prince Regent Luitpold Bayern, 1st Battery garrisoned in Ludwigsburg. Ludwigsburg is a city located in Baden-Wurttenburg on the Neckar River. The left side scene on the stein, shows the reservists in gunnery practice with the green rolling hills of the German countryside. The center scene shows the horses being aided by the reservists as they pull the cannon limber uphill. The right scene shows the reservists in training firing a small field cannon such as the one on the finial. The pewter work is all intact with an interesting thumblift depicting, St. Barbara, patron saint of artillerymen. The colors of this stein predominately blue and green are vibrant with the copper driving band fully intact with no fading. The roster of 42 men strong is fully intact with no fading. Lithophane is mint with no lines and features a depiction of a reservist with his lady love.
