This is a John Walsh Walsh vaseline vase, circa.1880-1910. The vaseline effect is done by adding uranium to the glass mix and and the milkyness effect is created by reheating the glass.

I have taken a picture of it where it normally sits so you can see what it like against a darker background. I don't think you would ever put flowers in it.

So beautiful and delicate-- I love it.

Do you have another posted here? It looks familiar to me.

      Stunning.

I saw one of these(not the same pattern) on a much longer stem, at an auction. I so wanted to bid on it, was perfect condition, but sending such a delicate thing in the post would have been insane.

Not so insane. I bought this off eBay about 4 years ago, and it came in the post. I can't remember how much a paid for it, but I think it was over £100.

yeah, these things have really high prices. even with postage from somewhere exotic likely is it still would have been a good deal. (at least for these really nice style examples in great condition, Not so much for some of the more common pieces or damaged pieces)
