Imperial German Reservist's beer stein named to "Pionier Otto Weinhardt" who served in the Royal Saxon Pionier (Engineer)Battalion No. 12, 3rd Company, stationed in Dresden from 1905-07. Saxon steins are scarce, and Saxon Engineer steins are rare. Stein is free of chips or cracks, has unusual photo transfer of the Company Commander (Hauptmann Oldenbourg) making it even more unique. Pewter top is dark with age, has standing engineer holding an anchor as a finial, which appears to lean back, but doesn't appear to be actually bent. The stein has the most detailed company roster that I have seen. It is also manufacturer marked just above the top of the stein's handle. Thumblift is the arms of Saxony.
