Fully hand-decorated stien of Reservist Gefreiter (private first class) Brorkmeyer commemorating his service from 1899-1901. Brorkmeyer was assigned to the Infantry Regiment Baron von Sparr (3rd Westfalians) No. 16 . This unit was garrisoned in Koln. The stein has a half liter porcelain body. It shows seven scenes of military life with tremendous hand painted details in each scene. This earlier produced stein is almost entirely hand painted instead of using decal-like transfers utilized by stein makers for the majority of pieces produced after 1898. A dual roster list is present on either side of the central scene. All frieze bands are highlighted in gold and well preserved. All colors are crisp and vibrant. The highly painted details added can be felt as original steins are. Very fine detail here. Lithopane is crack free. There are no chips or cracks in the stein. Lid has no pewter tears and consists of a soldier with a rifle raising a toast. Thumblift is the Imperial German eagle coat of arms. Outstanding stein that is over 110 years old.
