      I would imagine the foot was something done after a child was born, you know? Not sure what the ashtray has to do with it though... That is very, very strange

      I can see this, in days gone by, as being a novel and sentimental ceramics class project.
      Looking at with modern mores in mind one could make a case for it being an artistic statement about life/death and risk or the evils of commercialism or some other esoteric b.s.
      I'll go with that since it's human nature to attach a higher level of importance to the things we own. At least until you get the wake up call and realize what is and isn't so important. Oh no! now I'm conflicted. :)
