Over the years in the Caribbean, I've taken pictures of funny or odd signs. I labeled the file as "Signs of the Caribbean" and will post a few every once in awhile if you like them. These go back to pre-digital days so are pics of pics. If anything can't be read after posting, I will give it in the text. These go back into the mid 70's. 1st in "Mo"(Montego) Bay, top St. Maarten & bottom in St.Kitts.

I knew a guy that worked on the construction of wind generator towers, his job title was erection foreman.

The Islanders create the humour. I just record it. Everybody knows I don't have a sense of humour!

lol I am sure that was a hard job . Love old crazy signs and company names :-)

I wonder if the company in the first photo had trouble getting their men to work more than a few minutes without stopping for a smoke break?

And don't forget the nap afterwards. :-)

Oh in Jamacia they nap after they have a little smoke from one of those strange water popes pipes kerry :-)
Age surely makes it required to nap also lol

Actually, I thought the "LTD" for limited was the funny part. Walks--, there is an Island Law that requires that for each man working, there has to be 3 watching.
    10. walksoftly walksoftly, 12 years ago
That would limit the amount of work getting done... lol

Ok, you guys have got me going. Actually pipes are not common, the spliff(joint the size of a little finger is the norm. The size of the butts they throw away would bring tears to many an American's eye.
The U.S. gov't. did a study to show how ganja affected Jamaican workers. I asked one of the researchers when they were finished how it came off? Answer: "You won't see this study published. We found that Jamaicans work 70% more while smoking than those not smoking". He also said that there 1st problem was finding workers who didn't smoke ganja!

Blunder that stuff is so abundant there think many people go there to vacation to sit back and smoke . Must be why common answer by a Jamaican is" No Problem " they are so relaxed lol and of coarse if they work at that construction company are walking around even more relaxed :-)

Mani, you got it. The majority of the tourist trade is geared to that. Why go to a dangerous location otherwise? Expressions such as "Why pick the fruit when you can pick the tourists", etc. An interesting 15 yrs of my life & probably lucky to have survived. As a side-note, I soon found out that I couldn't smoke that sh-t & run a business so quit it. When high, I wanted to be normal so, considering myself an intelligent type, decided to stay normal. I like myself that way. I've just thrown all my pics of the trade away.
