Any help or thoughts on this Civil War era CDV are appreciated.

The photograph was taken by Armsuby of New York.

The man is wearing a large paper cap with a cross and he beats on a full size military style drum.

Possibly he was a member of an anti- Catholic or Nativist organization?

Fusiliers wore a mitre helmet in France, Germany and England. This can well be a parody of a bishops mitre which were higher than those military mitres. Interesting photo. I'm looking forward to hear what others say.
