This is likely my most amazing garage sale find to date. Local sale got a box of what turned out to be mostly Sterling pieces that consist of plates,spoons and other pieces for 25.00. I'm trying to still figure if these are better off scrap or to find the makers that might make them more desirable. Some are monogramed 6 plates are identical international sterling h 413 6 in plates. The small spoon is marked Hans something sterling Denmark and other cool pieces just wanted to share.
Wow...amazing find!!! Could you post a close up of the large spoon? What does the hallmark say on that one? Looks like a nice coin silver spoon to me!
By the looks of the lot I would not scrap it! Looks all to be old and in great condition, but I could be wrong. The spoons would def. go for more than scrap on the auction site, I know because I buy them there all the time. Really a great find, must have been exciting!
Truly exciting BH and there is more that I need to test. BH also the big spoon u are spot on about stamped Wm Kendrick from what I could tell tough to find Kentucky ware made around civil war time not a lot of it still around. The ashtray like piece that is ornate with eagle and horse on shield with star is stamped Plata fina 0900.
does anyone recognize the stamp mark on the plate in the 4th photo trying to id maker.

Kendrick 1873-1880. Upon William Kendrick's death in 1880, his

until 1932. It is likely that any silver with the Kendrick mark made after 1840 was not actually made by
Kendrick, but rather retailed by him.

That is the closest mark I have yet to see but not sure it to be exact. Anyway to date the Kendrick spoon? Also trying to figure out if that one piece is a napkin holder and if that piece that looks like a stocking what was that for a candle to put out? Thanks for all the info.
whitman75...yes I agree it is not exact, it is very very close though, just thought I should suggest it.
The Kendrick spoon... is there a monogram on the handle? Sometimes people can tell the year based on the style of cursive lettering. I do think it is a napkin holder but I do not think it is a candle snuffer. Just my guesses!?!
Thanks it may be correct at the moment I think it is Simon's the Spoon is monogramed in capital letters MLB in fancy lettering.
Yes...MLB would have been the original owner's initials most likely. My best guess based on the shape and style of the coin silver spoon would be 1840-1840 but that it only a guess. The shoulder's tended to be wider and more prominent as the 1800's moved along. The style of the script is another clue, but I don't know too much about that.

I definitely wouldn't scrap these pieces. You have some older ones and those can bring 2-3 times their scrap value. Pieces from early 19th century are quite desireable and it looks like these are in really good condition. I would definitely get them cleaned though as silver can stain and that stain can end up eroding the metal over time.
