HELLO!
Thank you for taking the time to take a closer look at my 'killer pick'.
This item is a BREATHTAKING HUGE Horse Knight Chess Piece Ceramic Sculpture Piece that is in EXCELLENT CONDITION considering it age. I don't know the exact age of this piece but I have done some research and I think it's between the 40's and 70's. And let me tell you, this piece is not the size as your normally chess piece... this thing is HUGE!!! It measures about 13.5" tall and 6.5" diameter. It's a big boy!
I didn't see any markings on the it anywhere but the base of the piece on the bare bisque ceramic is looks extremely old.
There are a few tiny flaws on the piece itself... one small 1/16" or even 1/32" spec under the jaw on the chest during the making process and I don't know if it is tiny needlepoint size white paint or if the black glaze is chipped there above the right eye but you can barely even see it! I just happen to see it was I was check it for chips/cracks in the natural sunlight. These spots are seriouslly about the size of the sharp part on the needle.
I have had this piece for about a few years now and I have been trying to do SOOO much research on it because I can't find anything in any antique or collectors books. It's kind of a mystery piece! This would be adorable on any shelf!
Do you have any idea about this piece? The age? The marker? Anything besides its ADORABLE! lol
Thanks Again & Take Care!~
