Today I post here on CW my 200th jewel/"ornament" so I want to show you something special.Although you can call this lipstick case/holder not really a jewel still like him. Because it is a unique antique Art Deco period utensil sure many ladies will be interested.
As already said, this is a lipstick created and halmarked as silver (900) with makersmark: JB. This was made in Czechoslovakia in 1930´s. It bears Czechoslovak Assay marks. Usually they were made by various makers in Prague, the most important of them was Hugo Freund Company, since 1907.
By the time the lipstick itself is no longer present but the colour remains show that it must have been a beautiful rose red color.
Given my job, I have made a lot of study of the history of the makeup during centuries and that says to me that this piece should be made anyway in the latter part of the 19th early 20th century. Because there in the 19th century by neat ladies hardly makeup was used.
As you can see it is a very beautiful engraved lipstick case holder and the original brush is there even more.
200 wow.

AR8Jason. Hello Kevin,
What a pity that you leave CW. You're one of those with a lot of knowledge of antique and vintage jewelry and assited your knowledge with a lot of us, collectors. Moreover, it was for you never too much trouble everything as good as possible to describe or explain. In short, you leaving on CW is a loss for many collectors.
Obviously I will be happy to ask your counsel and advise to use through your private mail data to your counsel and advice as possible. You'll hear from me!!
