This is a three handle Loetz vase that I bought from Germany a few years back, it has an inscription that reads "Der lieben Lina zum 20 geburtstage von Jhren eltern". It roughly translates to To: To darling Lina on the 20th birthday from her parents (thanks for correction). As you can see, the base it is marked with a date that coincides with the making of the vase perfectly... 1925.
The sides are decorated with things she like to do like walking in nature, drawing at a table and riding a toy horse. This piece was probably ordered or personalized by a shop or maybe even by the glass maker himself (giving it as a gift). It is signed by the enameler but I can't make it out. Poor Lina, if she got this vase at twenty in 1925 she would be about 108. I feel like this piece should have been treasured by her grand kids.
This vase is proof "you can't take it with you" ...also a great way to show that you love and remember someone.
This is an interesting piece K(J)!
I think the German text is slightly different...
Der lieben Lina zum 20 geburtstage von ihren Eltern.
To darling Lina on the 20th birthday from her parents.
That engraved decoration is quite different but it has elements that remind me of the "tulips" on the "Peche" pieces. This one is great! She's at a desk studying, out walking in the garden and there must be a third scene .....?
thanks for the correct info... (so much for google translate). i will show the third image later when i take down the date in a few days... thanx for the support!
