Does anyone know what this is? Bought it from a house sale and was told it was a torpedo shell, it's 22 inches tall and the circumference is 10 inches.

    Thanks

A photo of the shell bottom would help to ID the shell.

It also has markings that are illegible

      Got it.

I am not sure what it is or what it came from. The diameter looks to be too small to be from a torpedo. It also looks too long to be from a land based shell and the lack of a primer end, would rule that out (unless it was cut).

The decoration is similar to what I have seen in trench art shells. Maybe this is some other piece of war debris OR it may be a civilian item.

Sorry I cannot be of more help!
