The acquisition of a miniature is a significant prize for trench art collectors.

I thought that I had posted this a while ago!

This particular example is expertly crafted and the origin of several parts can even be determined.

The barrel came from a GEW98 Mauser Rifle and is clearly stamped "Spandau 1911". The base plate is from the timing fuse from the top of an artillery round.

    Enjoy.

It appears to have some sort of breech mechanism. Does it open etc.?

Does it have a system for firing blanks? The maker must have had something in mind.

It appears to have been assembled with many rifle parts. Trigger is the breach handle. Behind that is a stripper clip charging port. It also looks like they used part of the bolt assembly.

Thanks for looking and commenting Kanuckster-- yes, it has many rifle parts that were used to assemble the gun.
