Im not entirely sure of the history of this lighter besides that it may have been sold to soldiers during wartime. flint wheel works great still produces spark, some paint left in the flag depiction and can sustain a flame. I came in possesion of this lighter at my first auction on 02/17/2013. after winning this item I got a really nice lamp set valued at $220 for $20 so I consider it to be my lucky lighter. I love its design and unuiqeness.

      Nice souvenir lighter.

I would date it to the 1950s.

      Thanks for sharing.

I am currently hold my exact lighter which I purchased at the Keflavik Naval Air Station (I was a military policeman 1n 1956 USAF) I no longer smoke however I kept this as a reminder of my experience while in Iceland Not a friendly place in those days we were not liked by the Icelanders
