    This is another one of my grab bag finds a Military 40 Dragoons Medallion I don't know much about the Dragoons and the different wars they were associated with , I just think this is a pretty neat medallion!

      It looks like a military unit or challenge coin. Size would be helpful.

      I cannot read anything in your pictures, but it does have a unit crest and Infantry crossed rifles.

      Some additional pictures with details or the exact writing off the coin would be useful.

      The front of the coin reads Ryhneland , Ardennes -Alsace, Central Europe, Northern France and the back reads Forty Dragoons , BCT you are right it is a military challenge coin , I found one similar to mine . Thanks for the info scottvez!

      The circular coins are the most common, but there are units that use other designs. I have seen "dog tag" style coins. Here is one of mine that is shaped like a torri:
