This is a big, heavy lovely EAPG compote. It has a pinwheel-like, almost floral design with a tiny star/flower in the middle that has been partially etched on top of the pressing, along with a star and a cross that are pressed only. The stem is 8 sided, and the base has a bold pressed radial star underneath. The lip is sawtooth and also undulates around the pinwheel and star which alternate along the side of the bowl. It's 8 inches across and 8 inches high. The glass is really thick and has a slight greenish tint to it. The mold marks divide the bowl into 4 parts, but it is difficult to differentiate the mold marks from the actual design on the stem and base. It is in beautiful condition. Does anyone know this pattern?
this doesn't strike me as EAPG. Have you checked in with a black light?
Need to check all with black light yet.
I have a bunch of this stuff too.
What does a black light show and what does EAPG stand for again? I must have heard at sometime but forgotten.
Mine is from Grandmother and Mom. Anyone want to do some trading? :)
EAPG=Early American Pattern Glass
many EAPG crystal clear pieces will show a faint green glow under black light, whereas most newer crystal clear glass will look purple/blue.
It's greenish - not blue. What are you interested in trading Boots?
Sorry to take so long to get back to you guys, my email notification on this item didn't work.
Thanks TallCakes I'll have to gather it all and get my black light out.
I would dearly love to find someone that would like to trade "outdoors stuff"
(hunting, fishing, camping) or military history items or vintage photography items or ? ...the list goes on. for things I have from my grandmother & mothers estate that I just don't have much interest in like dolls, glass, buttons etc.
This isn't the place to go into detail and I need to get it all organized and photos taken. I know advertising sales of any sort are against the CW guidelines but this isn't an attempt to sell so I'll just say I can be reached at skysmiling at me dot com.
Boots - I am always interested in an interesting trade. Our email is on our website. I like buttons and glass esp EAPG, and hats! Have you got any hats? I have lots of antique photos to trade.....and some outdoorsy stuff - are you looking for antique - I have some hand tied flies by Clara Frost - and by my Mom who was a friend and contemporary of Clara Frost.....and I have some fishing stuff. Alas not much in the military history dept.
Boots - I tried skysmiling at me and skysmilingatme dot com and both were not recognized as valid emails. Perhaps you could send an email to antiquarius.antiques at gmail dot com. You can check the email on our website which is listed in our profile at the top of our page.
