I like to have examples of all American art glass makers of the early 20th century.
I always thought of Dugan as a Carnival Glass maker but after reading the great article by Dr. Al I decided I needed a piece of Dugan Art Glass.
PHOTO 3 : this red Dugan vase was sold by a very well known Northeast Auction House as LOETZ.

What is it worth as Dugan vs. Loetz?
scott
Much less as Dugan.
I only have one piece of dugan. I really don't like it, maybe quality varies greatly from piece to piece and I have a second or something.. but I am baffled how anyone would EVER compare this to even the lowest quality loetz in existence.
the red is nicer looking. It looks good in pictures. I am talking about just the way the glass feels.
Greatsnowyowl : I agree the red makes it.
Czech I can understand.. Loetz not so much.
I am expecting an example just like the julia piece this week. I'll compare first hand the cobalt and the red.
alrighty. I got the red piece today. I can understand teh appeal now a lot better. the blue one I have doesn't compare. the red is fantastic.
OWL : glad you got a red. Your are right.....the red is far the best Dugan color.
