It is a pity to see that wearing some kind of antique jewelry is also a matter of fashion to day. This because silver with gold jewelry with rose cut diamonds are not much worn at this moment. However, these small pieces of art are really wonderful to see. This brooch is one of the many examples of this kind of jewelry.
It's made of silver inlaid with rose cut diamonds on foil. Hence, the bottom of the diamonds is, as you can see on the photo (4) closed back. There is one mark which is not readable. Diameter: 2 cm.
These jewels are made before brilliant cut was discovered and there was still no use of electric light. Therefore the ladies worn often this type of jewelry because this ways of set diamonds sparkle beautifully by candlelight. I would be glad these jewelry come back in fashion, don't you agee?

Do you think it used to be a button in Georgian times?
Davyd286 that could indeed be the case because of the litlle bail at the backsite although this "brooch" is quite heavy and large for a button.
AR8Jason, Well I don't know for sure I didn't test for Platinum. Can you test Platinum in the same way as gold meaning with Acid?

AR8Jason. Hello Kevin,
What a pity that you leave CW. You're one of those with a lot of knowledge of antique and vintage jewelry and assisted your knowledge with a lot of us, collectors. Moreover, it was for you never too much trouble everything as good as possible to describe or explain. In short, you leaving on CW is a loss for many collectors.
Obviously I will be happy to ask your counsel and advise to use through your private mail data to your counsel and advice as possible. You'll hear from me!!
