This beautiful dish was given to me by my friend, Marguerite about 10 years ago. I know it has a value, but not sure what. It is also a very big dish, one photo is by the measuring tape - it's almost 2 feet long.
I tried to photograph it in halfs to zoom into the sea shells that are what look to be handpainted.
I photographed the seal on the back.
I think that it is a very old piece (60+ years)
PL Limoges France c.1906-1938
Now is the front signed? Look very carefully, it is hand painted so see if the artist signed it and let me know. Dave
I cannot see a signature
does this type/style of dish have a name?
No style name, just Hand Painted PL Limoge Oval Platter, Retail Value around 75.00 if it were signed a bit more. Dave
really can't see a signature.... I was trying to see if it was in a shell design, I might be able to faintly see initials? but could be part of the shell design
Jean Pouyat Limoges France sea shell platter ca-1905
thanks Sheri. Does anyone know of the best way to sell this? I've tried E-Bay with no success
There is a site called LiveAuctioneers. Perhaps one of the auction houses near you would sell it or a consignment store, or maybe ask a local estate sale person if you can put it on consignment with them. Have you tried Craigslist?
