This was an old house put together with wooden pegs across the street from me during hurricane Luis. No known damage while the rest of us were torn apart. 155 mph winds! After Luis passed, we stood in wonder at how this house withstood the onslaught. I put this sign on the place as a joke & it became a popular photo shoot for people. Just don't build them like they used to! Luis was in 95. Of course Americans have never heard of it since it didn't affect them.

    6. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 12 years ago
By the way, Wyatt Hotels grabbed a big chunk of Oyster Pond & renamed it Oyster Bay. Irritates us & we still know it by it's real name. Friend is visiting & I am being forced to party more than I have in years as the Heineken Regatta is on. I am not here for another few days. Think friend is going to cause my death.

Roy, I've got a friend visiting during the Heineken Regatta & I'm going to be lucky if I survive! To answer your question, better have lots of money as it just across the road from the beach in Grand Case. Friend here for 1 week & will take 2 wks for me to recovery. Visiting friends have it in their heads that we just lay on the beaches & drink beer all day. My feet haven't been in the ocean in years!! Just another place to live.
If those people were to sell that small piece to me as a friend, probably $200K.

Very assuring to know wooden pegs hold well, as my roof is held together at the peak of the trusses by wooden pegs. I was going to add crossmembers to keep up with the times with all the severe weather we have been having since some of my best stuff is up there.

Roy, I was the sole distributor for "roll-ups" for the whole country of Jamaica back in the 70's. Had to smuggle them in but there were(empty) planes coming in all the time. I bought them by cases, which averaged 18 cents @ pack for export from wholesalers. Jamaicans had always used brown paper bags until I moved there. I had trouble(seriously) getting enough in & had to limit the amount for each customer. I was selling for $1 per pack & people would drive from Kingston to buy what I would allot them(no case discount) at the $1 per pack price. Now, I'm selling them thru my club. Tourists kept asking how I could sell cheaper than curb-stores in the States. I got tired of answering the question & raised my price to $1.25 to meet curb-store prices & Jamaicans never even questioned the increase & bought what I would allot them. Haven't thought about this for yrs but getting a laugh now remembering it. At 1 stage there, I could buy a hundred cartons of cigs. & without paying for them, make $100. but that's another story. Jamaicans loved those "roll-ups" that were 1 long roll like toilet paper with glue one 1 edge for rolling spliffs. Love capitalism! We cheat the other guy & pass the saving on to you! Damn, what great yrs & times!!

B'buss I think you should write your memoirs, then sell it off to Hollywood.
    17. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 11 years ago
Walks, Hollywood doesn't like non-fiction. They like sparking bullets, cars that blow up or flip for no reason & B.S.. Never saw any of that in real life! I've proven that life can be stranger than fiction but people seem to like B.S. fiction better. I was writing my memoirs, but my ghost author warned me that I was also carrying a confession with me. I'm in several books but prefer to leave that behind & live happily in my world now. Told people, when I die, if anybody cares to do it, I would like a marker that reads, "Others dreamed, he did it".

Cannon: Just sent an update to Hems. Went to look Sunday because heard the sand had been shifting but it was too rough to see anything. I had heard a week ago that 2 or 3 iron cannons were pulled up from there & were is a shop around the lagoon. Notified Sir Jay of the "hysterical society" about it & found out that some people were given a permit to check out some areas but they were not supposed to bring anything up without an OK. He is contacting those people & the police are now looking too. Need to get them back into salt water as soon as possible before they start crumbling. They were to be left there until funds were available for a large tank to treat them correctly in. Some people around here think they can just do whatever they want with impunity. We preserve history while others thoughtlessly destroy it.
    21. Roycroftbooksfromme1, 11 years ago
well rules have to be in place or its everyman for himself ahhhh....So if the dont put the gears in motion and call out the police to force them to return it back to whence it came....to preserve ,.. then you and only you can stop them ...just show up with a buster ;-)...lol and take it and out it back where it belongs ,till funds can be found .....sounds like a job for a long winded fellow ...hmmm I known one ...lol
Get out there and beat the drum ,... stand on the conner and sing some songs with a cup in one hand ...lol
or start a campain for real ...the more nose ya make, the more folks will take a look aaaaaa...
