Hi guys
Can anyone help my friend with any Information on this Lovely old Chest of drawers. Her nan sadly pasts away and has some lovely Antique furniture's. she didn't think much of this piece. I know nothing about it but i know it's a really nice.
Any Information would really help. It's a shame I never told more and better photos. Thanks for looking :)
looks Victorian era perhaps. . .
Scottish or North Country in style mahogany veneer?
Restored it could become:
Tall Antique Mahogany Scottish Chest of Drawers
A striking tall antique Victorian mahogany Scottish chest of drawers ca 1860 has an inverted breakfront top above a very unusual shaped double frieze drawer, the lower drawer having a central separate hat compartment. The lower section has three graduating drawers with original turned handles. The chest of drawers has beautiful column supports and stands on four turned bun feet. The piece is a rich medium mahogany colour with a striking grain, good patina and is in good condition. It has been cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
Thank you vetraio :)
Your information will help my friend alot.
She got more lovely old wooden furniture I will put on here later when I get a change to go there again and take some better photos.
What price range would you say it was in? I don't want her to get ripped off as she will be selling the house that the furniture is in.
Thanks again vetraio
Mid to late 19th century.
Veneer was NOT a negative in 19th century furniture. Some of the finest pieces were veneered. With the 20th century veneer has negative connotations as it most often covers particle board and is not all wood.

They hate brown furniture at the moment mate. No one wants it. You are better off keeping it or off loading quickly. The work that needs to be done would cost buckets.
They just racist :p lol
