This is a restoration that I did over 30 years ago, it was part of a set that my Grandparents purchased at auction in the in the late 30's or early 40's.
In 1981 it was sitting in a building at home & asked my Dad if I could try fixing it up, & he agreed.
It was in very poor condition, there had been many coats of varnish applied to it, you couldn't see some of the detail in the woodwork.
It had been reupholstered several times, it had hay in it to replace some of the original stuffing.
The original upholstery was leather, with the button detail that you see.
The stool is not original I made that to go with the Settee.
The third photo shows my Great Grandmother, my Aunt & her husband on their wedding day Oct. 31 1942.
My G Grandmother is sitting in the chair that went with the set & in the background to the left you can see the settee.
Thanks for the love & those kind words Bellin, I appreciate it.
Thanks for the love mustang & vetraio.
Thanks for the love on this one filmnet.
Beautiful Bro . the chair looks like it has a very wide seat ? Like for royal gowns to fit into . Love love it
Thanks for all the loves on this Sis, it is meant for two people as long as they aren't too wide.
There was a chair that went with this & I do have a picture of it in a family photo from the early 40's.
Thanks for the love on this official.
GREAT family piece.
I'd attach an envelope with a copy of the picture to the back, so that the family connection isn't lost to future generations.

You're most welcome, sir! I am doing well, thank you very much. How are you and Mrs. walksoftly? Is it cold enough for you up in Canada, or do you need to borrow some snow from Washington, D.C.? Take care, sir! My best to 'Mrs. walksoftly'! : )
Great to here you are well & no we don't need snow or cold we have too much of both.
All is well in the Great White North.
You take care as well my friend & I will pass on your greetings to Mrs. WS

this is absolutely gorgeous -- you did an outstanding job and the big plus it is part of your family history to again be pasted down through the generations in good standing due to your excellent work
Thank you so much for the love & the compliment epson, it means a lot to me to have so many compliments on this piece. I've had offers on it in the past, but there was no way I was parting with this family heirloom.
I must admit I had to look up Eastlake as I had never heard of it before. So I certainly can't answer that question.
Thanks for the love on this valentino & the picture it definitely adds to the sentimental value of the piece. I wish that I had the chair that my G Grandmother is sitting in in the photo.
Hi Looks like Eastlake, but the best I have seen! I posted my grandmothers rocker, Eastlake, earlier! that is a beauty!
Thanks for the love & the comment toracat.
I had a look at yours it'a beauty!
Well this is great to know, I've had this for over thirty years now & didn't know it belonged to a specific design. I always thought it was just some generic design that came from Eatons.
Thanks for your input Phil, I appreciate it.
Thanks for showing this some love inky, mikelv85, brat & Moonstonelover.
I don't know how I missed this, I love it. What a great job you did. I Wish I could have you refinish mine. They are about the same size and have the same type of arms.
Thanks for the love Aim, & thank you for the compliment. I had noticed some similarities in your setee, I could refinish it but my wife already has a long list of jobs for me to do:-((
Yes... we all make those honey do lists. LoL
