Da Spoon looks like a cake serving spoon of some kind. It is about 22cm long and has the following engraved on it: "330.A.SMEBYE.1886." It also has the following engraved seperately: "1887." Your help with identifying this spoon will really be appreciated.

I take it back. Not Dutch but Norwegian.
The surname Smebye is Norwegian.
Albert Smebye address was 17 carl Johan's Cade, Christiania (Oslo) - 1886
He was a Manufacturing Goldsmith and Silversmith, specialising in Norwegian Filagree and sold Antiquities and Old Silver.

So 330 is not correct.
It reads 830.
"The current system requires only a silver standard mark accompanied by a maker's mark. The old Norwegian standard of .830 purity silver is still used, but beginning around 1920, .925 purity began replacing it and is now the foremost standard in use."

My appology, you are absolutely correct, it is 830 and not 330 as I had it.
Am I correct if I accept that one of the two sets of figures could be the date on which my spoon was actually made?

Hi. The spoon was made, I suppose in 1886.
Though that was his first year of business and registered.
The later date may have been when it was engraved?
I'd not heard of him before.
