lovedecant…
(237 items)
This is a 30s to 50s champagne coloured decanter with 5 matching glasses, sitting on a Lister Wood Craft walnut decanter tray.
This lot came in the post today from some lovely person on eBay. The decanter is supposed to be Whitefriars, but I don't believe it is, as it's not listed in my books and the way the peg of the stopper is fitted to the decanter is not done the way Whitefriars do it. Who cares, I have a real purpose made, not for any other use, decanter tray. It doesn't get any better than that.
Lister Wood Crafts of Dursley, Gloucester, who renowned for teak wood products reclaimed from famous British battleships such as H.M.S. Ganges & H.M.S. Terrible and possibly some of Nelson's ships, as alluded to in their advert of the 1920-30's.
I want one!
By way of an update, this is a rib molded "Straw" coloured decanter, made by Strombergshyttan and imported to the UK by Elfverson. Elfverson pattern number E.624. Possibly designed by Hugh Dunne Cooke circa 1930s.
