I found these two enameled brooches on a garage sale.
One is stamped as silver, blue enameled with 4 little pearls. The other is also enameled with a light blue background with a bunch of colored little flowers. This last one has no mark at all but to see it's vermeil.
The period is probably the first half of the 20s. Have you any idea where these are used for?

These are very beautiful! I used to have two very similar brooches -- not as nice as yours, and during my student days I wore them with my good Oxford cloth shirts. I opened the top collar button and then used this type pin to secure the shirt so that it didn't open too much. Sometimes I wore a cravat, and then the pin also secured that. I don't know what anyone else has used this for. Seeing these brings back fine memories.

They are called "bar pins" but also "lace pins" or "shawl pins", which gives a clue to one way they were used. There is some indication that they were often worn in pairs, perhaps one on each shoulder.

Dear Agram, you are always so good and kind to everyone that I never gave it a second thought!...I am glad to see that although I couldn't identify the name of this type of jewelry, I at least got the function right. These are so beautiful!! Mine of schooldays were rather plain, but I loved them....I always so enjoy your postings. Thank you, Agram, very much! : )

MiKKoChristmas11, what can I say in anwer on your kind comment. Thank you very much for your compliment you make me shy! I enjoy this site because of all the beautiful antique jewelry from fellow collectors, the knowledge and skills of many and certainly the personal contacts that you have a special place !
The only thing I can not really appreciate is that jewelry on this site are shown of people who pretend to be collectors but in reality businessmen or professional jewelers. But you certainly belongs to one of my favourite collectors.
