I have recently had my cup runneth over from a friend and former CW poster, Scandinavian Pieces. All of a sudden I am getting super awesome packages from my friend from over the pond.
Look at this beautiful Orrefors large (10 inch diameter) Raspberry bowl.
It glows with goodness. How sweet is Scandi???
Nice pieces! I miss Amy... She was great!
I do too! Isn't she just so sweet? Thanks Toolate!
Amy is a real sweetheart!
These Raspberry bowls ar nice! In 2010 I went to Orrefors and took photos when they made this bowles, but smaller. One worker managed the spin machine, the heating machine and a robot carrying the bowls to cooling. He said he made about 150-200 per our!
Most glass made in Orrefors the last years, are machine products, not handmade glass as earlier. Also Ulrica Hydman Valliens famous Mine series and Anna Ehrners Atol are produced in Orrefors spin machines. The first glass produced in spin machines was the Fuga series by Sven Palmqvist in 1954. This spring Orrefors glassworks will be closed down for good, and a new glass production does not seem to get started. However, there are people who want to start industrial production of other kinds in Orrefors empty premises.
Love this, such a nice gift from Amy, she is so generous.
Interesting Rebessin. So Orrefors is closing?
I am hearing 6 to 10 inches for you yuck!
Yes, Orrefors is closing. Only the Kosta unit remains in highly reduced form, of the one time so big concern, Orrefors-Kosta/Boda. Their glassworks in Boda, Afors, Sea and Sandvik (Hovmantorp) has closed down in the last 10 years.
wowsa, say hi to Amy for all of us at CW!
Orrefors is closing? Ah. Doubly glad that you have this gorgeous bowl, AmberRose!!! I know that Scandi was slightly tempted to buy this for herself, but instead, she wanted you to have it!!! So beautiful! : )
