Pictured is a Carson City Morgan Dollar from 1882. An aesthetic feature of the coin is its toning on the obverse side. This feature is not desirable to all coin collectors.

What happened to your collection? Have you seen the other Carson City Morgan Dollars that I've posted, including the 1889 one? As for the Liberty coin that you mentioned, I take it that it didn't sell at auction? According to the newest red book, the most expensive US coin to sell at auction was a $20 1933 Gem BU that sold in July of 2002 through Sotheby's for $7,590,000
