Greetings: I purchased this lamp about 25 years ago in a Belgian antique shop. Except for the spider, it is all glass. The dealer had 12 of these lamps and claimed they were purchased from a renovated hotel in Normandy. I bought all 12. However, I returned 11 of them as I needed some quick extra cash for a must-have purchase at the Sunday Tongeren antique market. They are etched signed in the glass "Le Verre Francais" (picture 4). This company was most famous for its cameo glass products and signed its glass in at least 4 ways: Schneider, Charder, Le Verre Francais, and with a candycane strip of embedded glass. The lamp is 24" tall and 15" wide at its widest. I am not really sure of the age. Comments/opinions appreciated. Regards.

Wow! This is a relatively rare LVF piece, as I have found there are about 10 to 1 vases vs. lamps out there. This one is unusual for LVF, in that most of Schneider's LVF was cameo acid-etched. This one has the style of the pieces marked Schneider or Charder or both. She's a beauty! It's also hard to find 90 year-old glass lamps like this with the shades intact. That's why you see so many lamp bases being sold by themselves. Great buy; and where are the other 11 now I wonder. :)

Okay I have to know what was better than 12 of these beauties? And, do you regret it now?
    8. Nootch Nootch, 12 years ago
AmberRose: Believe it or not, no - I don't regret it. I'll post what I purchased in lieu of the other 11 lamps in a few moments. Regards.

Stillwater: I find your comment quite accurate - women do seem to gravitate to this lamp! Regards.

Hi Nootch and other LVF admirers, I'm a new "collector" - feel in love with a set of lamps yesterday and have been trying to learn more about the artists since. My "set" may unique, perhaps not authentic or original use, as the lampshades are paired with a "King and Queen" sculptures. Curious if any one here may have insights to help me solve some of the mystery. They are beautiful pieces - hoping to solve some of the "mystery" around them (and some unusual etchings on the base).

If not authentic, certainly beautuful and will enjoy them either way. Appreciate any of your input! It seems we may have similar taste. ;) Nootch, your lamps are beautiful!

      Best,
      Bailey

Bailey: The signatures in the glass look OK, but I have not seen cased glass used by Schneider (Le Verre Francais) - so I'm not sure. The metal bases of the candleabras (misspelled) are suspect in my opinion. Regards.

I noticed someone is selling this lamp on eBay at the moment here -

      I wondered if it's yours?
      Thank you!

JANEJACKSON: Thanks for the heads up. No - the offering WAS not mine; however, it is now as I bought it! It is, however, much smaller in size. Regards, Nootch
