    we have acquired what we think is some sort of shipping trunk, with long transport handles to lift it with a chain attached, the size of the box is height 32" width 51" depth 27" carrying handles 96" long, two metal handles each end, metal strips on corners, please help if you can would love to know what it is many thanks.

      wow! I have never seen anything like this. Looks like Indiana Jones. Can't wait to hear some ideas.

      I do not believe those carrying bars came with this trunk. The impracticality of it would seem to suggest this. The trunk would be far too top heavy to be lifted in this way. If it was a true "safari" type trunk the proportions would be somewhat smaller and there would be steel or cast iron rings to slip the wood slats through on the top to lift it above the ground safely and securely. It is a coincidence that these two pieces found each other. Kinda neat though when you see them together.
