Greetings: Yesterday, I posted a pair of French pedestals. This bronze bust, circa 1900, sits atop one of them. It is artist signed in the casting "E Villanis". Villanis (1858-1914) was a famous and prolific French sculptor, most famous for his busts of young women. He would often use young boys as models to create the faces of the young ladies in his busts. The bust is 23" tall and has a gold overlay finish. This was purchased in Maastrict, NL, along the Maas River. I was told that this bust graced the hallway of a local house of ill-repute, frequented by the then king.
