February 13, 1957 - Arabian Sun and Flare
RAS TANURA - One of the foremost artists in Saudi Arabia, Reg. B. Strange, is now conducting a weekly evening class for 14 men in Ras Tanura. "They are all busy painting something," he said. Hello, boy a frame makes a big difference. I bought this years ago for $1.00. Really, it was in 8" X 10" photo frame with glass cracked. I just put it in this frame, made in Taiwan, that I paid $5.00 for. In pencil on the bottom it says "The Philosopher" I found that newspaper article on the internet. He lived in England and spent a lot of time in France. He has a strange name Strange for a Saudi Arabian man. I wonder if this is a real man or a dreamed up one by Reg B Strange? I like it! I think the frame lights it up, in the broken glass little frame it looked bad and cheap. Thanks!
Reg Strange is not a Saudi, but he spent time in Saudi Arabia, and I knew him and his family. He was a very talented painter, and sometimes I watched him working. jim
